One journalists story of sadness, depression and the counselling that helped him
Just before Christmas, journalist Sachin Nakrani wrote a fantastic article in The Guardian on his experience of life, it’s difficulties and how counselling helped him through a particularly tough period. The article is an unusually brave, honest and open account of one man’s experience of life and it’s struggles. It’s a rarity to read such honest and open writing in mainstream media and the article seemed to strike a chord with many readers.
It also struck me as a very accurate depiction of what the counselling experience is like, what leads many people to it, and something of how the experience affects people. Of course every counselling experience is unique, being a unique relationship between two people that isn’t reproducible. But for anybody curious about what counselling is like or why someone might consider having counselling, this would be a great article to read.
